Sight.org Founders

Lewis Swann & Peter Dossou

Lewis was raised in Tyler, Texas, and is married with three children. Before Sight.org, Lewis worked in public relations for a hospital ship off the coast of Africa. Peter was raised in Benin, Africa, and is married with five children. Before Sight.org, Peter was a church pastor and an ophthalmic technician on the same hospital ship. Soon after they met, Lewis and Peter believed God called them to serve together in what became Sight.org. A few years after starting Sight.org in Togo, God called Peter back to Benin to pastor a church and to help start an orphanage. Peter and Lewis remain close friends, and Peter travels to Togo to visit Lewis almost every time Lewis goes to Africa. Peter remains Lewis’ top adviser for Sight.org.

The Sight.org team

Since our founding in 2012…

This team has worked nonstop, providing sight and the gospel to every region of Togo.

Those who choose to serve with us travel hundreds of miles from their families for weeks out of every month of the year (except December), sleeping outside in tents far from the comforts of home. Yet, some of our team has been with us since the beginning, and the fellowship and joy among this team are only possible with God. We are primarily an African team, and many of our staff came from different religious backgrounds before coming to faith in Christ. We speak the languages and share the culture of those we serve. We are pastors, medical professionals, doctors, and administrators, all serving to extend God’s love to his people.

Our statement of faith

What we believe about…

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the Word of God which never fails. It is our guide to faith and practice. (Matthew 5:17-18, Galatians 3:17-24, 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20, Hebrews 4:12)

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Galatians 3:20, Matthew 28:19, Philippians 3:3, 1 Peter 1:1-3, Acts 13:2)

We affirm the virgin birth of Christ, (who, though fully God, lived as fully man) His death on the cross, that He was resurrected and that He will come again. (Isaiah 7:14, Luke 1:27-35, John 8:58, Hebrews 2:17, 1 Corinthians 15:3-6, 12-21, Acts 1:11, John 14:1-3)

Our church is a part of the Body of Christ on Earth and Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church. (1 Corinthians 12:12-30, Ephesians 4:1-16)

the Church

We utterly depend on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ in order that we can have a right relationship with God. (Romans 5:12-19, Galatians 1:3-6, 1 Peter 2:21-24, Hebrews 10:10-12)

We affirm that all believers are ministers and “priests” in the Kingdom of God on Earth. (1 Peter 2:9-10, 1 Corinthians 4:1)

We are committed to ministering to a lost and hurting world and to partnering with other ministries to accomplish this. It is our hope to equip the Church, evangelize the lost and exalt Almighty God. We believe in the Great Commission which Christ gave to His Church. (Matthew 28:18-20, Matthew 25:31-40, Luke 19:11-27, 2 Corinthians 5:20)

We exhort the people of God everywhere to contend earnestly for the faith, prepared to give a reason for the hope we have. (Colossians 1:28-29, 1 Peter 3:15)

The 100% Model

Years ago, we boldly decided to tell donors that if you donate to "Sight & the Gospel," 100% of your donation will go directly toward doing just that!

All expenses like fundraising, office expenses, salaries, accounting fees, and other US Administration expenses are covered by funding partners who want to ensure that 100% of your gift will go to Africa.

Any questions? Please contact us. We appreciate talking to our partners about all we do to reach people with sight and the gospel.
